About 12 months ago, I sat down and created a vision for my life. My vision statement is “I am courageous, inspiration, guidance and love.” Twelve months on, I’m really excited to review my statement and see what experiences I've received.
Courageous is something I’ve always had as a vital part of my ethos. Thankfully Scouting in my youth has instilled this ideology. This year I’ve taken leaps and really explored myself. I've been fearless and enjoyed time by myself and learnt how important it is to learn how to spend time with yourself. Taking yourself out for coffee, going to the pool, gym or reading. Dedicating time to myself has been something I’ve found courage in.
Inspiration is something I hope I am to others. You might think as someone who is disabled and queer, that works full time is inspirational enough. For me, it's about how I can inspire each individual in front of me. Starting this blog has really shaped the level of influence and vulnerability explored the intention to share and explore.
Guidance is something I've learnt from my mentors. I think 2019 has been the biggest year of support I've given to peers, friends and colleagues. I think it's exciting that I've been able to listen and build a deeper report with these humans. The biggest thing I've learned from this is that it's ok to ask for help. The number of people who are now in a better place because they reached out is fantastic.
It's beautiful seeing the world with a love lens. I've woken up every day knowing I have love in my heart and am ready to share that feeling in my daily interactions. Sharing with those around me, feeling more positive, joyous, and caring. Being a beacon of love has been so fun and incredibly liberating.
Will I keep these four words? Yes, because what you focus on is what you get.
